HANZOOM, Participant in Incheon Startup Park Program, Wins Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Award

HANZOOM, a company participating in a program promoted by Incheon Startup Park, has recently been recognized for its technology by receiving the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Award.

The Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority, Incheon Technopark, and Incheon Urban Corporation announced on the 29th that HANZOOM, a startup participating in the Smart X-City program jointly promoted by the three organizations, received the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Award in the new technology category on the 10th.

Founded in July 2016, HANZOOM developed a smartphone-based ‘Smart House Solution’ built on bidirectional OTP security authentication technology.

When a smartphone is brought into contact with a lock, the lock generates an OTP and sends it through the smartphone to the authentication server. The server then sends another OTP back through the smartphone to the lock, opening the lock.

Because the system analyzes OTP patterns generated on both sides, it can strongly respond to hacking attempts. It is a promising new technology that can control various locks, including entrances, front doors, parking barriers, elevators, and mailboxes, with a single smartphone.

The award received by HANZOOM was granted in the smart startup technology, non-face-to-face startup new technology idea category at the 2021 World Smart City Expo (WSCE2021), and is a prestigious award presented in the name of the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to outstanding companies.

Incheon Technopark and Incheon Urban Corporation signed an MOU in May to support Incheon Startup Park for the development of innovative growth startups, and have planned and operated the Smart X-City program to discover ‘X,’ meaning innovative services that complete a smart city. The program supports demonstration and costs using Incheon Urban Corporation’s housing spaces, urban regeneration sites, and development sites as test-bed resources.

HANZOOM plans to verify the effectiveness of its products and services in youth housing, a demonstration space provided by Incheon Urban Corporation, until December 10, and then provide them free of charge to residents.

CEO Choi Kyung-sik said, “The award-winning technology is a mobile-key solution. It connects smartphone locks and an authentication server through mobile apps such as smartphones, so there is no need for face-to-face contact, no waiting, and no security concerns. We will successfully complete the technology demonstration project in the Incheon Urban Corporation–Incheon Startup Park Smart-X City program and do our best to develop and provide Korean-style mobile solutions for the contactless era.”

Jeon Yun-hee, head of the Smart City Division at the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority, said, “We will continue to verify the effectiveness of products and services developed by startups and provide full support so that startups can grow further.”
